The Amazing Story of Phili Continues
And the amazing story of Phili, our FLEX student placed with the Kranzler’s in Plentywood, Montana, continues. In our last post in September, we told you how a well-known Billings prosthetist, Jim Middleton, met with Phil and fitted him for a new leg. Joy, Phil’s host mother, writes the following about his latest visit to Jim, Halloween and how much Phil loves their cat!

When we were in Billings last weekend to get his new foot installed, a reporter and photographer from the Billings Gazette came to our hotel and talked with him for quite a long time and took many photos. The next morning, they went to Jim Middleton’s office and watched the foot installation process, interviewed Jim, and took more photos there. Phili was definitely thrilled with our visit to Billings. He was allowed to see the St. Vincent Hospital rescue helicopter up close and personal. One of the flight nurses gave him a tour of it, and, even let him sit in the cock-pit! Boy, was he impressed with that. I’m attaching a few pictures of that for your enjoyment. In one of the other pictures, Phil is dressed up as ‘Uncle Sam’ for Halloween. In another, he has the cat all wrapped up in the ace bandages he uses on his stump. He gets the most fun out of doing that, and the cat seems to like it too… at least he keeps coming back for more! You can just see what a happy kid Phil is. It does my heart good to see him have such fun. He adores that cat!
Phil really is a happy kid! He had a great time dressed as Uncle Sam so people could see the Amarican flag on his new leg. The children at the party were more than impressed that he had a ‘real’ robot leg!! It has been great to know and spend some time with Phil. Thanks Phil!!
